Buhari , NASS disagree over 2016 Budget again

Hopes of many Nigerians who were looking forward to the passage of the now controversial 2016 budget, might have been dashed.

Reports say President Buhari has given back thebudget  to the National Assembly once more, over a few inconsistencies.

The 2016 budget was sent to Buhari on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at around 1:00 am, yet was returned back to the lawmakers quickly by 12 twelve, as per reports.

A source who spoke to Vanguard said “The budget got to the State House at about 1.10 am  and Mr. President went through it early this morning (yesterday) and still had some issues with some of the figures. “I cannot tell you exactly what it was but I think the insertions made by the lawmakers were not significantly altered.

“You know the lawmakers had moved some allocations for key projects that are dear to the President to other areas, especially to their constituency projects.

“Of course, they have changed some but I believe Mr. President is not satisfied with the reconciliation they made. I think this is one of the reasons it was returned.”
You will review that Mr. President returned budget last time, over disparities in some points of interest, which prompted him meeting with the leadership of the National Assembly.

The source additionally gave confirmations that Buhari would consent to the 2016 spending plan today, Wednesday, May 4, 2016.

The lawmakers and the presidency traded blames last time, over the expulsion of the Lagos/Calabar railway project from the budget.
