American singer, Christina Grimmie shot dead at concert
Grimmie, best known for participating in Season 6 of NBC’s singing competition The Voice in 2014, died today June 11 at a local hospital in Orlando as a result of the gun shot wounds.
‘She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn’t survive the gun shot wounds. We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning,’ her publicist told E! News.
The assailant, 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl, reportedly shot himself when confronted by Christina’s brother Marcus after he had shot the singer three times.
‘Upon arrival officers found the male suspect, who was deceased and one victim who was gravely injured. That victim, singer Christina Grimmie, was transported to the hospital with critical injuries,’ the Orlando Police told the publication.
Grimmie released her second EP, Side A, in February of this year.
