Libya Coast Guard salvages 16 Europe-bound Nigerians, 24 other migrants from the Mediterranean sea

Sabratha vessel of Tripoli Coast Guard managed to rescue 40 illegal immigrants including Nigerians,  from the Mediterranean while on their way to Europe.

The rescue operation took place on Saturday north of the city of Zuwara, the Libyan Navy Information Office said.

The office added that the migrants were found on board a rubber boat, pointing out that among them were 31 men, 8 women, and a child.

The office explained that the migrants were of different nationalities, including 5 women, 11 men from Nigeria, 15 men, 3 women and one child from Morocco, in addition to 4 men from Egypt and a Syrian.

The migrants were provided with humanitarian and medical assistance before being transferred to Tajoura Immigration Centre.
