'I've N300m in my Zenith Bank account,' Governor Fayose admits

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has conceded that he had N300 million in one of Zenith Bank accounts with number 9013074033.

In a progression of tweets by his Special Adviser on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, with the hash tag 'Fayose Speaks', the senator said he saved the cash into his fixed deposit account before he was sworn in as governor.

He said he had declared the money in his asset declaration form.

Fayose was reacting to the allegation by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that he deposited the money in April 2015, six months after he had become governor.

“I declared in my assets declaration form that I had N300 million in my fixed deposit account in Zenith Bank #Fayose Speaks,” Olayinka tweeted.

The governor also, again, denied any occasion of money transaction between him and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) in 2014.

Fayose added: “I did not get money from the NSA Office to fund my election. It is just a conspiracy; it will fail like that of 2006.

“By the end of this month, we are starting a social welfare scheme in which 7,000 people will be getting N5, 000 per month #FayoseSpeaks

“We deceive ourselves too much in this country. Even our population that they said is 150 million is not true.”

The EFCC had asserted that Fayose's partner, Abiodun Gbele, got the N1.219 billion from the ONSA for the benefit of Fayose and exchanged part of the cash into the senator's present record and organization account.

Fayose, according to the anti-graft agency, also moved N300 million from the money and used it to open a fixed deposit account in April 2015.
