Buhari proclaims war on those opposing his anti-graft fight

President Muhammadu Buhari has said his administration will go all out on those who try to prevent the on-going fight against corruption.
The president made this known when he played host to physically challenged, the Internally Displaced Persons, taxi drivers, commercial motorcycle riders, artisans such as butchers, hairdressers, barbers, tailors, members of the Buhari Support Organisation, President’s neighbours in Lobito Crescent, and junior workers in the headquarters of the All Progressives Congress, inside the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to him, anybody who attempts to stop his administration from fighting corruption would suffer the consequences, The Punch reports. Buhari, who spoke in English and Hausa languages handed down the warning during the breaking of Ramadan fast, he organised for his guests.

He said: “Whoever deter us from fighting corruption will suffer the consequences. It is unfortunate that the elite are self-centred and they only think about themselves.
“Be assured that we care about you at all times.
This government is concerned about your welfare and we will work hard to improve it.”
Buhari also expressed optimism for massive food production in the country, especially in rice and wheat given the volume of rainfall this year.
He said: “This year I think we are indeed lucky. I met most of the Northern Emirs recently and I asked them about the rainfall in their domain, some of them were even complaining that the rains were getting too much.
“That to me was an indication that we are going to have a bumper harvest towards the end of this year.
“I believe with this commitment we should not only feed ourselves in terms of rice and wheat and other food crops but we will be able to export to other countries and maybe attract foreign exchange too.”
Speaking shortly after, an IDP, Musbau Diti, who spoke on behalf of others, urged the President to do more to alleviate the sufferings of people in the different IDP camps across the country.
He also urged Buhari to set up a commission for persons with disabilities.
Buhari was joined at the dinner by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal; the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammed Bello, and some presidential aides as well as top government officials among others.
Embattled President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, was absent at the event due to his trip to Saudi Arabia for Hajj. However, he was represented by the Senate’s Deputy Chief Whip, Senator Alimikhena Francis.
